These individuals who need an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) include:


Nonresident Aliens: Foreign individuals who are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN) but have a U.S. tax filing requirement. This includes non-U.S. citizens who earn income in the United States.

Spouses and Dependents: Nonresident alien spouses and dependents of U.S. citizens or resident aliens who need an ITIN for tax purposes.

Foreign Investors: Individuals who invest in U.S. assets, such as real estate or stocks, and need to report income or claim tax benefits.

Students and Scholars: Non-U.S. students, researchers, and professors who receive taxable scholarships, grants, or stipends while in the United States.

Business Owners: Foreign entrepreneurs or business owners who operate a business in the U.S. and must comply with tax regulations.

Remember that an ITIN is used solely for tax purposes and does not grant work authorization or other benefits.
